After a very long week, esteefee and I finished the import of No More Tears by sardonicsmiley. We hand imported over 200 works in 32 fandoms (lots of crossovers!) with more than 25 pairings and 14 series. Quite a body of work.

To be clear, when sardonicsmiley left the fandom, she left ownership of her works to dossier. When Dossier passed away last year, her estate handed over control of sardonicsmiley's works to me. With no way to access the No More Tears website, the only option to preserve it was to move it to AO3.

Which we did. By hand. Gladly.

Although to be honest, I have a thumping headache and I'm sure esteefee's eyeballs hurt like the dickens.

I couldn't have done it without esteefee's help. Not only did she import more than half of the works herself, she found shortcuts and programs that helped me speed up on my end. If not for her, I'd still be there and it wouldn't be done until next year.

Many thanks to esteefee for her help, support, and encouragement during this project. You know that saying, "Friends will help you move; true friends will help you move the body." No, true friends will help you move the website.

Some long fics used to come with a playlist. What's a song that you were introduced to by something fannish, and what was it inspired by? Bonus: Share a link to the song/music.

Oh, there's so many great tunes that I wouldn't know if not for fandom. About 20 years ago, Bassam and Kareem did a Highlander-Methos vid to Goo Goo Dolls' "Iris" and it just blew my mind. I'd never heard the song before, never heard of the band, but picked up the album right away. That vid started me down the road to listening to new songs, new bands, like Carbon Leaf, Linkin Park, Lady Gaga, and so many more. A lot of people in SGA fandom did really great playlists that introduced me to even more "modern" music. (Look, I'm stuck in the 1970s and '80s. Sue me.)

What is something you do today that you wouldn't be doing if not for fandom? Examples: Vacation with fellow fen, running a community, etc.

Editing, mostly. For a while there, I had quite a few writers to edit, mainly in SGA, but sometimes I'd get requests for works in fandoms I didn't even know. It felt wonderful to have writers contact me for beta work who said, "Just read it as original fic!" and that allowed me to expand my skills as an editor as well as introduced me to new fandoms.

Also, for a while, I did fic covers for other people. I really enjoyed working in Photoshop, really enjoyed the creativity of it. Moved into icon making and loved that. I still do a few icons here and there but not like I used to. (Thanks, Tumblr!)

The most important thing I've found in fandom is family. Y'all are awesome. Thanks for being a part of my life and letting me be part of yours. I honestly don't know that I'd be alive today if not for your love and friendship.

What fandom did everyone else get into, but you never did?

Teen Wolf, BBC Sherlock, and Hawaii Five-0.

I haven't seen a single episode of the first two (gak, spit, hack!) and only got into Hawaii Five-0 because I was still editing back then and my writers got into it. Once they moved on, I stopped watching it. I really hated the stunt casting and product placement in H50.

Teen Wolf--I don't do werewolves, vampires, or zombies. Look, my brain knows they're not real but they still scare the shit out of me.

BBC Sherlock? Just say no.

What fandom with a series finale was the LEAST appropriate/least satisfying. Bonus: How would you have fixed it?

Stargate Atlantis. That last episode was utter crap. Yeah, let's pair everyone off and leave John Sheppard standing there alone. And oh, we're so happy to be back on Earth, never mind all the folks we left to twist in the wind in Pegasus. Makes me want to strangle certain writer/producers.

What is a fandom that you never thought you'd get into, but did? Bonus: How did you end up getting into it?

The Good Place. esteefee dragged me in, saying I really needed to watch the show, and she was right. I'm not much for "comedy" as such. I prefer humor to the outright broad comedies we usually see. I really love The Good Place, love it for the humor, the adventure of it, and the absurd look at life, love, and death.

What is the smallest fandom that you're in?

I honestly have no idea. I don't know what criteria is used to measure the size of fandoms, or the writers, or the number of written works. I guess SGA is the smallest functional fandom I'm in right now. Remember, last one out turns off the lights!!!

Just now, I realized I've been doing this for years! Every new show I watch, I think, "What would it be like if John and Rodney and Teyla and Ronon were to just waltz in?"

As I said yesterday, I'd love to see them in Person of Interest. Back in the day, I read a few Hawaii Five-0 crosses that I enjoyed. I've been watching The Magicians lately, and can see the whole team at Brakebills. The one cross-over I wouldn't want to see is with The Good Place as that would mean they're all dead! But almost any crossover is good with me. :D

What character do you think you would end up being best friends with? Bonus: What other character would you and your new bestie give a hard time to?

Another tough question! Most of my favorite characters are clams (BAMFs who are emotionally constipated), so I have to think it would take a while for any of them to open up enough to be friends. Except Teyla; she's awesome and open and... well, maybe not. She's certainly more emotionally aware than her teammates but that doesn't mean she'll fall all over someone the first time they meet.

And me being a dedicated introvert doesn't help. I'd like to think I could spend quiet time with just about anyone but I'm not all that good in crowds and making friends doesn't come easy to me.

As for giving someone a hard time, no. I was bullied in school and at home so I choose not to do shit like that to other people. Well, maybe Rodney McKay, a little. He doesn't respect anyone who won't talk back to him. :D

We all have that ONE fandom, or OTP. But what would you consider your backup fandom? Bonus: Who is your backup OTP? Same fandom or different?

Taselby was a vidder, icon maker, writer, list mom, you name it in Highlander and Stargate SG1 among other fandoms. She was such an inspiration in RL too, going back to school to become a science teacher. She was one of the most welcoming people in HL, fun and friendly. If you can, please help.
