Fandom Trope Meme, Annotated

em_kellesvigSo I jumped on the meme wagon and have a few things to say about it.
1 Coffee House AU/Food Service AU: It's all about the coffee houses for me. And the slash, but mostly the coffee.
2 Soulmate Identifying Marks (Tattoo, Red Thread of Fate, etc): I haven't read many of these but the ones I like are the ones that buck the system. Fate? Screw that. Love who you love.
3 Daemons: I never read the books but I love the trope. I guess it's all about having that second self who represents a hidden part of your soul. I like what it says about the characters.
3 Polyamory: Give me OT3 or OT4, well written and balanced, and I'm happy.
5 'Groundhog Day'/Karmic Time Loop: There's so much a good writer can do with this trope. I love seeing how each iteration plays into the next.
6 Found Families: Since I have a found family of my own, I'm surprised this isn't higher on my list. Blood is not thicker than water; love is.
7 Body Swapping: There's something about body swapping that makes me highly uncomfortable and yet very intrigued. What's it like to live in someone else's body? What do you learn about them and what do they learn about you in the process? I like seeing how this plays out, whether with humor or angst or both.
8 Friends to Lovers: There's something comforting about watching two people fall into each other's orbit and just stay there, forever.
9 'Everyone is Evil'/Mirrorverse AU: I was fascinated by the original Star Trek "Mirror, Mirror" so this one draws me in every time. I like seeing the differences and the sameness of favorite characters bent by circumstances and/or society. Everyone has a dark side; a good writer knows how to explore that without making the character unrecognizable.
10 Hurt/Comfort: I'm more for the comfort than the hurt. Frankly, too many h/c fics zoom in on the hurt and hand wave the comfort completely. For me, finding one that's balanced hits all the right buttons for me.

Where's the Historical AU? The BDSM AU? Where's the PWP and the fluff? Action/Adventure? Or are these not tropes?
